Born and bred in Cumbria, I was brought up in Cockermouth and now live in Bolton Low Houses. Having spent many years working in Highways maintenance across Cumbria in the public and private sector, I now run a successful local welding and fabrication business in Workington.
I am the Deputy Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria and the County councillor for Thursby. In 2023, I was the final Leader of Allerdale Borough Council.
I have been involved with politics for many years and my key drivers are making a positive difference and supporting Cumbria to be the best it can be.
Committed to problem solving, I enjoy the challenges that local politics presents and specifically I derive a great deal of pleasure in assisting people wherever I can.
I am serious about getting things done and pride myself in delivering on my promises. Being Leader of Allerdale Borough council allowed me to lead and influence locally delivered services, as well as being co-author of the successful option for Local Government reorganisation, which will streamline services in Cumbria and deliver efficiencies. During my tenure, I have been instrumental in securing £38million of Government funding for projects across the borough. I am incredibly proud of the legacy we left in Allerdale, and in the coming years we'll see all of that coming together.
